The Beautiful Power of Not Knowing
The Art of Beginner's Mind:
The Beautiful Power of Not Knowing
Most of us spend our lives avoiding being a beginner. We chase perfection, avoid mistakes, and fear looking silly.
But what if the real magic—the creativity, joy, and freedom—comes when we don’t have all the answers?
Beginner’s mind is about approaching life with openness, curiosity, and zero pressure to be perfect. It’s how we access real growth—and have more fun along the way.
Why Embracing Beginner’s Mind Changes Everything:
🔹 Curiosity without judgment. You stop trying to be right and start exploring again.
🔹 Less pressure, more joy. You’re allowed to stumble, laugh, and learn without the weight of expectation.
🔹 Flow and creativity. You get lost in the process—where the best breakthroughs happen.
My Own Beginners' Journey
From cold water swimming to learning handstands in my 50s—I’ve felt the discomfort and the thrill of starting from scratch.
It wasn’t about ticking off goals. It was about reconnecting with my body, my courage, and the joy of simply trying.
It’s more about trying and growth. Lean into discomfort and just try to be the best you can be in the moment.
I fell over so many times learning handstands, and I sank when I first started learning to swim at 53.
But both journeys opened up a whole new world of experience and opportunity.
When I stopped chasing perfection and leaned into growth and enjoying the journey, I started smashing outrageous goals I couldn’t have even imagined—with simple, joyful and compassionate steps.
Want to Try It?
Pick something new to explore—just for fun.
Let go of being the expert for a day.
